Greases
What is grease? 润滑脂是由基础油,稠化剂和添加剂组成。
Lubricating greases can be defined as solid to semi-solid materials which represent dispersions of a thickening agent in a liquid lubricant. Typically, grease is composed of the following:
Lubricating Base Oils 50 – 95%
Thickeners 5 – 40%
Additives 0 – 20%
There are many industries and applications where high quality grease may be required, including automotive, industrial, marine, mining and agriculture. Naturally, the choice of product will depend on a variety of technical requirements relevant to the end application.
Lubricating Base Oils
The base fluid component of the grease must be able to perform many functions. For example, the grease is required to have excellent lubricating properties and good solubility characteristics to enable it to solubilise performance enhancing additives. The base oil should be matched to the thickener system to avoid detrimental effects through solubilisation.
Thickeners
Thickeners create the grease structure and can be an organic acid soap or a high viscosity complex ester. Soaps are typically fibrous and will vary in thickness, length and oil solubility and these variations will be displayed in the final properties of the grease. Croda's high quality fatty acids and high viscosity complex esters designed for use during soap production can result in an improvement to the grease consistency, and support reduced lubricant consumption.
Additives
Enhancing performance and extending product life requires the efficient use of high performance additives. Croda has a range of corrosion inhibitors which are highly effective at low treat-rates.
